Huge As A Mountain, by Kenneth Currington

Huge as a mountain my cop daddy was.
A bad-ass and stronger, I saw him with awe.

Nobody would dare to confront him at all.
Huge as a mountain my cop daddy was.

Compared to this grandiose mountain I saw
a skinny boy with freckles, and so really small.

Scared if my dad was to come in my room.
He thought I was brave and strong just like him.
But really inside I was just a wimp.

Huge as a mountain my cop daddy was.
A bad-ass and stronger, I saw him with awe.

Sometimes I would hide it, angry as hell.
To fake I was stronger, and bigger than Pete,
my little brother, smaller than me,
I got all my anger, and threw it at him.

In high school I got to captain the team.
I was a good student, I got the best grades.

My classmates were seeing a mountain in me.
But I felt skinny and pimply as shit.

I felt o so small, and shitty inside.
I desperately needed a way to get out.

I got me a place in a top business school.
I thought that would make me a mountain at last,
but all I succeeded was to drown inside.

And then came a moment of disgust and pride.
I quit that dumb school and went for a ride.

I went to L.A and played it real cool.
I learned how to yoga, and taught in a school.

Huge as a mountain, they all thought I was.
But inside still skinny and felt like a wimp.

On to Hawaii I had me some fun.
I finished my schooling while playing in the sun.
Got an online degree while teaching yoga
to the rich and famous of Malibu Beach.

I looked like a mountain to all the rich folks.
But I felt so fake that I needed to hide.

I did meditation and taught in a school,
and everyone thought that I was so cool.

I traveled around playing spiritual man.
I ate all organic and got a good tan.

I started some business and did kind of well,
I built up my body so no one could tell
that inside I still was skinny as hell.

And then I met Sheryl, fell truly in love.
She felt I was huge, but I couldn’t hide.

We went to the jungle together to find
an answer to all that was haunting inside.

And there I encountered a man that was big.
They call him a teacher, a big fat bald Greek.

He heard all my stories, had nothing to say.
He gave me a paper that said you are fake.

I knew in an instant, that paper had truth.
And felt so so little and o so damn thin.

And then I was given a way to be huge,
a mountain that’s taller than anything else.

To hold tight my woman and take care of her,
to be a great friend and dare to have dreams,
To have my own baby and teach him as well.

The way to be huge is to stand tall and proud,
to dream to make sculptures that tower the earth.
My dreams and my actions is what makes me huge.

As I shall be growing my heart and my will,
to nurture and grow my love for myself
and hold all my loved ones in one tight embrace.

Huge as a mountain my cop daddy was,
but now he is smaller at seventy-two.

And one day my baby will be bigger than me,
and I will have taught him the way to be huge.

Huge as a mountain I stand now and sing.
My heart is my rockies, and so are my dreams.

Huge as a mountain I now stand and sing.
I’m proud of myself, now I feel like a king!!

Huge as a Mountain and Proud

Huge and Proud!
