Past Mythic Parties

Photos and videos of every edition so far

The Mythic Party was born January 2015, when 3 visionary artists created murals on the walls of our art studio within 5 days inspiring us to make an annual visionary art event. In 2016, 19 visionary artists from all over the world came together to paint the Myth of the Goddess Ayahuasca. Each artist fusing their individual murals together, creating the collective monument, “La Astronave”.

At the 2017 Mythic Party, inspired by the collective energy of “La Astronave”, the first ever piece of truly collective art was born. “La Mama”, a giant sculpture of a pregnant goddess: conceived, built and painted entirely with collective inspiration and effort, uniting not only the skills of the painters but also their individual vision into one piece of art.

The Mythic Party of 2018 took collective painting to the next level with "La Mente": A massive brain sculpted with scenes of conception and inside of it a professionally equipped recording studio.

For the Mythic Party 5: Breaking out of the Shell/ El Huevo, we went even more extravagant, and created an amphitheater in the shape of a broken egg, with the small part of the shell housing the stage, and the big part seating area big enough for 140 people. On the outside of the egg are sculptures in the theme of adolescence and a giant baby on top of the stage is being held by two hands coming out of the shell. Oh yes, and as if that was not enough, we also sculpted a WWII Willys Jeep to serve as our firepit!

The 6th edition of the Mythic Party of January 2020 blew every previous edition away, as we painted 'Umaba!', a giant playground for all ages that is playable like a boardgame. You can watch the documentary and photos below, and read all about it here.

The 7th edition of the Mythic Party was a smaller edition due to Covid restrictions, but we still had an amazing time together, check it out here!

The 8th and the 9th edition were both dedicated to Myztik, a magical land inside a hidden rock in the jungle, surrounded by a secret garden. Words cannot do it justice, scroll down to find out more, or just come and visit us to see it for yourself and take a dip in its therapeutic hot springs!

For the 10th edition of the Mythic Party, we will be diving into the world of Dungeons and Dragons, because we are building an actual dungeon, filled with magical creatures with a fire-breathing dragon on top, so keep an eye on the registrations page of this website, because we will be opening up to registrations soon!

January 2023: The Gods of Myztík

Myztík, the magical world we finished in 2022, is now enriched with a magical garden called "The Gods of Myztik". A garden not just with beautiful jungle flowers, but also full of functional sculptures with musical water fountains, draw bridges, an organ, little boats that sail around all these creations, and even a fire-breathing volcano. We sculpted all of this in the course of 2022, including big murals depicting the stories of all of the four tribes of little people who live in Myztik, and painted everything together during the Mythic Party of January 2023. Below you can take a look at the magic we created together, check it out!

January 2022: Myztík

We blew life into Myztík during the 8th Mythic Party in January 2022! It was a magnificent and magical adventure, during which us giants painted the inside and outside of the enchanted rock that is Myztík and the story of its creation and all of its creatures on the back wall of Candybar, our kitchen and dining hall in Pueblo Colorado. Below you can watch a tour inside of Myztík, a video that tells the story of how our volcanic hot springs came to be and photos of the world we created... but to really see it, come visit us in the jungle of Peru and live the magic for yourself!

January 2021 The Mythic Party 7 or bust!

After 9 months of Covid lockdown and quarantines, we were really pumped to share our yearly free collective art event, the Mythic Party, with all Peruvian and international friends. Regrettably, we had to cancel the Party for all our Peruvian friends and other international visitors, because the government announced a 14 days obligatory quarantine for all visitors from abroad. The only solution to help all our friends who were traveling towards Peru to participate both in the Mythic Party 7 and the Ultra Advanced workshop afterwards was to quarantine them here in TierraMitica with us and in order to be legal not allow anybody else in.

But the Mythic Party was not totally dead! Oh no! The TierraMiticans and 13 visitors, 28 in total in contrast to the 60 we were expecting, had a blast of a time: Painting together, with music and dancing and smiles in our faces.

In the first two days we repainted La Mama, our first sculpture, and the next three days of the Mythic Party were spent painting the spectacular The Jungle Book temple as well as various murals on the walls of bungalows and the amazing Yellow Submarine swimming pool - all for our newly created Pueblo Colorado, the spectacular retreat center village we have built here in our high jungle paradise.

Keep reading to hear the story and see the results of our collective efforts!

Day 1 and 2: La Mama

For the third edition of our Mythic Party, we created our first big sculpture out of metal and cement: La Mama, a giant 6,5 meter sculpture of a pregnant Mother Earth. We then painted her collectively for the "Mythic Party 3, La Mama", which opened for us a whole world of beautiful sculptures and the development of collective art.

Sadly our first efforts at a giant sculpture was an experimentation with various mixes and materials, some of them absorbing humidity, and many parts of La Mama have been crumbling and deteriorating ever since. Every year we patched her up, and every year she deteriorated further. Patching and patching destroyed areas, trying to match the colors and the original art was making her look worse and worse. So this year, in honor of La Mama and all the beautiful people who joined us in 2017 to paint her, we stripped her down and did a full restauration, so that she would withstand the elements as well as our newer creations. Initially we wanted to replicate the original, but we soon realized that this would not be art, and would not allow us to flow. So we decided to paint her with love in the same energy, but have a new La Mama, respecting the original but refreshing her in more ways than just the cement.

So here she is, La Mama 2017 and La Mama 2021!

Day 3, 4, and 5

Like usual we decided to go for a huge challenge which was to paint murals on each of the 5 bungalows, completely paint the entire Jungle Book Temple as well as our Yellow Submarine swimming pool.

Day 3 of the Mythic Party was very special and we only painted for half the day, because it was the shamanic wedding day of two TierraMiticans: Leroy and Niloufar. The wedding was absolutely magical in every way: our amphitheater was transformed into a scene that looked straight from the stories of 1001 nights and Niloufar got the wedding of her dreams as a beautiful Arabian princess, rescued by her mighty knight in shining armor.

After a long evening of partying and jamming, we continued to paint the next day. The energy ran high and so too did the fun, but above all we were all amazed at the incredible beauty created by such a small group of people in such a short period of time. We are so proud of the work we did and everyone involved in this year’s Mythic Party. Check out the results and see what the joy of Collective Art can do even during lock-down and quarantine!

The Jungle Book Temple

The Yellow Submarine Swimming Pool

So even though we were not able to have the Mythic Party the way we planned, we adapted to the circumstances and we absolutely rocked it! We ended with a bang, during our very first party in The Jungle Book temple, celebrating the common birthday and anniversary of Mikis and Lies and the end of the 7th edition of the Mythic Party.

Already we have plans for next year's event, and it is going to be absolutely magical and next level once more. Stay tuned for updates on our new upcoming projects and events, because we barely even started. OH YEAH!

January 2020 The Mythic Party 6: Umbala!

For our 6th edition of the Mythic Party, from 15 to 21 January 2020, we went further than ever before. We invited everyone, whether they could paint or not, to come and join in and paint with us "Umbala!",  a first of its kind fully sculpted and interactive playground for kids and adults and a prototype for playgrounds to be built by Misfits Unified all over the world. We were 60 people all together, and the event surpassed everyone's imagination: we all became joyful like little children, all working together, weaving our different styles and colors together, learning from each other and creating magical worlds all over the walls, sculptures and ceilings of "Umbala!".

"Umbala!" is a huge interactive board game incorporating a variety of puzzles, challenges, equations and treasure hunts, but it is so much more than a fun game, it is also an adventure where players get to walk/run/climb/crawl to the seven continents, the North Pole, fairy tale lands, magic carpet rides, visit the forest of the 7 dwarves, and so much more. It is accessible for all ages, little toddlers can play, but also grandparents can follow and skip the physical challenges, this way "Umbala!" brings the whole family together.

This "Umbala!" is a prototype for the playgrounds that we want to create all over the world. It can be made to fit in any space, any park, any campus or business park and can be any size or theme: it could be the history of a city or a country, an underwater world, a space adventure or a pirate battle, the possibilities are endless.

Because it is a prototype, all of the structure has been built by us by hand, over the course of about 3 months: First creating a metal structure and then plastering it with cement. For future projects we can incorporate pre-fabricated segments and assembly methods and the building can be made to comply to any country's building and safety regulations.

After the cement tunnels were created, they were decorated with scenes of sculptures during our 1 month-long, completely free, Misfits Unified Sculpting Extravaganza, which we held from 12 November to 12 December 2019. We held our first edition  of the Extravaganza in 2018 out of a desire to share our passion for cement sculpting. The concept of the Sculpting Extravaganza is simple:  anyone who wants to learn how to sculpt is welcome to join in, whether they have artistic background or not, and we all join together to learn from each other and create beauty with metal and cement. By the end of the month, everyone can sculpt, even people who had never done so before, but more than that: everyone feels like family after having worked so close together and sharing the pride for their collective creation.

We created a documentary style video that explains and shows the whole process from metal to paintwork, which you can watch below and you can also follow us and on our Instagram and Facebook pages, to stay tuned  to find out about everything that happened during the most spectacular edition of the Mythic Party yet: UMBALA!!!

January 2019 The Mythic Party V: Breaking out of the Shell!

For the Mythic Party V, we built a 140 seat amphitheater in the shape of a giant broken egg with a multitude of scenes in the theme of adolescence on the outside, sculpted with metal and cement during the Misfits Sculpting Extravaganza, a one month free sculpting event we held for the first time in November 2018.

In the narrow part of the egg is the stage of the amphitheater, crowned with two big hands holding a baby up into the sky. The big part of the broken egg serves as our semi covered amphitheater, and in the middle of everything we sculpted a WWII Willys Jeep, that now serves as our fire pit during concerts.

January 2018 The Mythic Party IV: La Mente!

During the fourth edition of the Mythic Party, "La Mente - Concepción", we took the collective energy even further,  much further, as painters from all over the world united as one and brought colour and life to the giant sculpture “La Mente”, a giant brain sculpted in the theme of conception which also houses our very own sound and video production studio.

The videos below show what the real meaning of COLLECTIVE ART is, and how art brought together this group of people in just five days! Also check out our blog posts on the event, and take a look at the pictures of the final results below!

January 2017 The Mythic Party III, La Mama!

From 16 to 21 of January 2017, TierraMitica organised the Mythic Party for the third time, a visionary art and music festival, free for all participants and a celebration of life, love and art! For this edition, we built a giant statue together over the course of less than three months, in honor of every mother, and then painted her together with friends and family, most of them inexperienced artists in just five fun days during the Mythic Party 3. The result is the world's first ever truly collective Art, designed and brought to life by 30 people. It is the first, because it is not many people helping manifest the design and vision of one, neither is it ephemeral, temporary street art or a mix of individual graffiti, but a fusion of individual inspirations and styles all combined into a permanent statue, a canvas for all, and every single participant can equally take full credit not only for their own work but also everyone else's. Everyone can be equally proud of La Mama!

January 2016 The Mythic Party II, La Astronave!

The first Mythic Party was such a success and the visionary art wall paintings by Luis Tamani, Juan Carlos taminchi & Julio Cabrera Suncion, left us speechless, so we decided to make a bigger event for the following year, dedicated to visionary art & music of the grandmother Ayahuasca. We created a building in a beautiful magical place in the jungle near our art labyrinth, that served as a blank canvas for 19 visionary artists from around the world. All working together but each in their own individual styles they painted the myth of the Goddess Ayahuasca as told around the campfires of the Ucayali River. In only 5 days of adventure, creativity, vision, fun, emotion, love, inspiration and oneness in TierraMitica,  the 19 artists finished on January 20th 2016 the never done before modern collective visionary art monument: La Astronave!

The event was once again a free for all and open to visitors and artists from around the world. Musicians were also invited to jam together every night, culminating in a wild party on the last evening on the 20th. It was a magical week long celebration filled with music, art, imagination, inspiration, myth, fun, love, all of mythic proportions.

January 2015 The Mythic Party I!

In January 2015, Mikis Hasson and Lies Demets, in celebration of their wedding 20th January 2015, opened up TierraMitica for a free 9 day event filled Party with music, art, a free Ayahuasca ceremony, sweat lodges, dancing and an unprecedented new opportunity for shorter term volunteers to see, share and learn our work and research into humanity, love and happiness with the warm embrace of the grandmother ... It was such a success that the Mythic Party has become a yearly event in TierraMitica ever since!
